Fuze Entertainment CEO Wang Feng today announced that their company has entered into a strategic partnership with Koei Tecmo games, a Japanese video game developer. Fuze Entertainment are a Chinese digital entertainment company who have made it their mission to bring the highest quality game experiences to gamers around the world. Fuze has established partnerships with major console game publishers to bring AAA titles to the Chinese market and are even planning to launch their own android based video game console.
It’s not clear at this point what the partnership between Koei Tecmo and Fuze will entail but it looks like Koei Tecmo may be porting their games to Fuze’s new console which according to the CEO is in the final stages of development and will soon be going through its final testing phase. The console is due to be launched soon and the CEO has boasted that there will be more than 100 games available for the system including big AAA titles. A few people in the industry have speculated that Romance of the Three Kingdoms (android version) could be one such game coming to the Fuze console through this deal and we could also see other Koei Tecmo games coming to multiple platforms in China through this deal.
The founders and core members of Fuze Entertainment have come together from big IT and gaming companies like Huawei, TCL, Nvidia and Tencent and all have the goal of bringing best gaming experience to Chinese gamers. Their console, codenamed tomahawk, aims to bring the spirit of gaming back to China and address the issues seen in other gaming platforms. Assault Android Cactus by Australian developer Witch Beam will be one of the first games on the system according to head of the studio who spoke at GDC 2015 in China yesterday.
If you’re wondering where you’ve heard of Fuze Entertainment before they are the company who helped fund Red Ash: The Indelible Legend for PC, PS4 & Xbox One. This game is billed as a spiritual successor to the Mega Man Legends series being developed by Keiji Inafune’s company, Comcept.
Koei Tecmo recently confirmed that they’ve been seeing great success in China recently through their online and PC games but also through their console titles which have launched in the country this year. Dynasty Warriors 8 with Xtreme Legends was a launch title for the PS4 in China and was quoted to be one of the best selling PS4 games in the country, up there with the likes of Final Fantasy X/X-2. Therefore it looks like this deal may go some way to increasing the presence that Koei Tecmo has in the China market.
Once we have an idea of what the partnership is about I’ll update this article.
